| Hatfield Training Centre is an (International Computer Driving Licence) Training and Testing Centre. ICDL is an end-user standard that certifies computer literacy.
Students are required to show proficiency in seven modules:
- Basic Concepts - covers vocabulary, applications and use of computers, IT and society and other general issues.
- Files and Folders - Using the computer and managing files deals mostly with the use of the operating system.
- Word Processing - this module requires all the usual skills, plus doing such advanced tasks as mail-merge and integration with spreadsheets and graphics.
- Spreadsheets - this requires a thorough familiarity with spreadsheet use.
- Databases – understanding and use of databases and database applications
- Presentation Tools – the use of and preparation multimedia presentations.
- Information and Communication - the use of electronic mail and information retrieval.
The candidate (student) has to obtain a Skills Log Book, the ICDL Registration Document. This is a book with space for the student's personal details (including ID number) and a page for each of the seven modules to be tested. These Skills Log Books are available at ICDL Training or Test Centres. The Skills Log Book costs R295,00. Log book is valid for a period of three years, during which time all modules need to be completed.

Each student is issued with manuals and self studies the material.
Each student is issued with manual and attends weekly classes in our computer lab. Emphasis is on students' self study, but they have the advantage of an experienced facilitator on hand. Please contact us for dates and times.

As soon as students are ready, they can go to a Test Centre to prove their ability. Students are required to bring ICDL Logbook and valid proof of Identity (ID Book, Drivers licence or Passport) Students may be recalled by the ICDL Foundation to have the tests repeated under direct ICDL supervision.
Hatfield Training Centre runs ICDL examinations on an ongoing basis. Contact us to arrange to register for an exam. Alternatively use our online exam booking facility.
Once students have passed all seven modules they send the Skills Log Books to the ICDL Foundation. After checking the Skills Log Book against the records, the ICDL Foundation issues the International Computer Driving Licence Certificate free of charge.
Student who wish to do so, may send in their Skills Log Book after completing four (any four) modules to get an ICDL "START" certificate.
